John Muniz For Congress
My decision for running is inspired by an ancient Hebrew prophet who stated, “what does the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God.” My mission is to represent all peoples, irrespective of race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, political or social status. According to the meaning of the word justice (i.e., sedeq in Hebrew), it is to show no partiality or favoritism. It is about equal representation for all and allowing everyone to voice their needs and/or concerns. I want to ensure that all Congressional District 8 citizens have this kind of representation.
The second word mercy (i.e., hesed in Hebrew) is to show compassion and sympathy toward others. I have instilled this in my children, as well as others I have come in contact. For me, this is what being human is all about: serving, helping, and finding solutions for the common good.
The third word humbly (i.e., anah in Hebrew) means to be meek and humble. In other words, it is having a gentle disposition, having an attitude of working together with others. I am very grateful to the nuns, teachers, and professors who instructed and helped develop my character. This has allowed me to work as a servant leader.
I have made it a point to live by these principles in my life. I have been serving the community for thirty-five years as Pastor, Social Worker, Postmaster, Division Director, and Instruments Controls Engineer. I am about finding solutions and working together. Therefore, I am convinced that it is of utmost importance and for the betterment of our community, state, and nation, to work together for the common good of all.
