The Rev. Dr. John R. Muñiz, D. Min.

Dr. John Muñiz is the Senior Pastor at Second Reformed Church in Jersey City, New Jersey serving for 26 years.  In addition, he is an Area Command Chaplain/Captain for the 88th Brigade of the New York Guard.  He is a pro-bono Associate Chaplain of Pastoral Care at Hackensack UMC Palisades in North Bergen, and a Board Certified Clinical Chaplain with the College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy in New York City.  Moreover, Dr. Muniz is the founder and President of the New Jersey School of Theology, which is endorsed by the Latino Ministers of New Jersey.  He was Dean of Pillar College, a private accredited Christian College in New Jersey, who oversaw a unique bi-lingual program.  His passion is educating and empowering the underserved.  He believes that through education these individuals can be significant contributors in the American society.  He enjoys teaching Biblical languages, exegetical courses, pastoral care, Hebraic Roots in Christianity, Ethics, Statistics, and various management courses, including emergency management.

On the secular side, John is an Engineering Project Manager who does consulting work.  He worked for the Department of Corrections, State of New Jersey as the Division Director of DEPTCOR.  He oversaw an $18 Million Dollar budget and was responsible for a $2.5 Million Dollar surplus.  Furthermore, John was a Postmaster for the United States Postal Service and also worked for the Inspection Service as a HAZMAT Specialist.

His philosophy is “anything is possible if one works hard enough for it.”

His academic credentials include the following:  Doctor of Ministry, New York Theological Seminary; Master of Divinity, New Brunswick Theological Seminary; Master of Public Administration, Metropolitan College of New York; Master of Business Administration, Fairleigh Dickinson University; and Bachelor of Science, Nyack College.
